Confrontation. That is wat WHYBE (Wybe Zijlstra, 25) wants to bring on with his listeners. He is not afraid to break through old tenets, as well on substantive, as musical level. The striking melodies, WHYBE’s distinctive vocal style and his ruthless, but aimed guitar playing contribute to a fascinating style, with songs that quickly make a deep impression. In 2019 he and his electric guitar player went to France to work on new material. In a dazzling and intense month his second EP 'Under The Truth' emerged from his deep emotional waters. In that same year he joined the Popronde, with which he achieved a lot of positive response. In 2022 he recorded his first full-length album Bonfire for a Butterfly with his new formed band, which released September 2024. When the DJs of De Staat van Stasse played WHYBE’s single Ice on my Soul on Radio 2, they called him “the best kept musical secret of the Netherlands.” WHYBE is on his way to a become a sophisticated singer-songwriter with a solid, subtle band behind him.
